Step 1: Call your dog over. Use treats, hand signals, or just simply your voice, depending on how well trained your dog is.
Step 2: Now, hold down on your dog's back firmly. It will NOT hurt him. Anyway, hold down until he sits.
It may take a few times, and your dog may not like it. Stubborn, large, unruly dogs cannot do this, but if trained well enough, possibly they can.
Step 3: Your dog has sat, so give him a treat and praise him by petting or saying "Good Boy!"
A good example for a treat is a dog bone, a bit of dog food in the palm of your hand,
or even a leftover biscuit or hot dog! After about 10 times of doing this, in about 2 weeks or so, your dog
will have learned how to sit.
