How to teach your dog to shake

Step 1: Call your dog over with your voice, hand signals, or a treat. Good examples for treats are leftover biscuits, hot dogs, or bits of dog food in your palm. The recommended treat is an actual dog biscuit out of a bag bought from your local grocery store.

Step 2: Get him to sit by using the steps in the "sit" tutorial featured on my blog.
Step 3: After getting him to sit, next hold your dog's paw up.
He my lick your hand, but only very wild dogs will bite you.
Hold it up for about 5 seconds, then let go. Give him the command "Gimme Paw" or "Shake"
Step 4: After about 20 times of doing it, which takes about two weeks, he should learn it, and every time you
say "Shake" or "Gimme Paw", he should put his paw up into your hand.
You have taught your dog how to shake.
